Lifestyle | Movie - The Host

I'm going to be honest, the main reason for me to watch this movie was Max Irons ('The White Queen') and my expectation weren't very high, but boy this movie proved me wrong ! It was so good ! (I cried, oh what's new?!)

It is based on the novel written by Stephenie Meyer, a.k.a. the author of the Twilight Saga, and while I loved reading these books and some of the movies, I didn't think that The Host would be this good. I kind of neglected the book every time I stumbled upon it, but after seeing the movie I might just read it in the near future :) I don't know why but when I read the summary or watch the trailer, I still don't get the same vibe that I had while watching the movie and the story doesn't come across as strong as it actually is. So I guess you'll have to trust me on my word for this one ;)

 "A race of aliens who are non corporeal go from planet to planet looking for hosts. They come to Earth and basically take over human bodies. Now it's believed that once they take over a body all memories of the previous inhabitant are gone. And there are some humans who have remain hidden from them and are basically a resistance movement. So an alien charged with locating them known as the Seeker captures one of them a girl named Melanie and puts one of them who is known as Wanderer in her body, in hopes of finding out where the humans are. But Melanie for some reason is still there and she convinces Wanderer not to say anything to Seeker. Wanderer feels empathy for the humans. When Seeker is disappointed at her lack of progress, she informs Wanderer that she'll be removed and placed in a new host and she will be placed in Melanie. Melanie knowing she can't convince her the way she convinced Wanderer convinces Wsnderer to run away and they can meet with the humans. Eventually they find them but only want to kill her but Jeb, Melanie's uncle for some reason doesn't want to. Jared, Melanie's boyfriend wants her dead too. But Ian someone Jeb tasked with keeping her safe finds himself attracted to her but Melanie won't allow it because she wants to go back to Jared. But how do they get Wanderer out of her. And Seeker is trying to find her."

Fashion | Inspiration - Boots

Hi there !

Yeah, another fall inspired post ! Fall/Winter without boots is like a make up bag without foundation, if you get what I'm saying ;)

This time every year I buy myself a new pair of boots and will wear them all throughout fall/winter until they completely fall apart. Most of the time I'll opt for leather boots, because obviously it's a very warm and strong material. I always choose a pair with at least a kitten heel, because I'm quite short and thus need my heels :)

For this fall/winter I have quite a few options to narrow down to one perfect pair ! I love the kind of horse riding boots with a short heel (Second picture), they were all over the place last year and I never got around to buying a pair. The second style that caught my eye are the wedged booties (Fourth picture) with laces, I've never owned a pair of wedges, but they are claimed to be super comfy so maybe I'll try them out this year. The third style that I'm eyeballing this year are the studded boots (Sixth picture) a bit more edgy and though, but still kinda classy !

Beauty | Inspiration - Fall Lips

Oi !

Fall is drawing nearer and I am way more excited than I probably should be ! For today's beauty post I wanted to share some inspiration on fall lip colours ;)

I recently got into wearing bolder lipsticks and guys, it has become a slight obsession ... Yet another one haha ;)

This summer I have been wearing a lot of bright pink, red and coral, but I tend to go towards the darker mainly red/brown-ish colours for fall. Don't get me wrong, I think you can definitely continue rocking the brighter colours during fall, but for winter I would definitely go for a darker lip :)

I just love these looks above ! Neutral face make up and dark/bright red lips are definitely a look that I am eyeing for the upcoming seasons :)

Lifestyle | Antwerp Fashion Festival Magazine

Hi there !

So a couple of weeks ago I told you that I was accepted to write an article for the Antwerp Fashion Festival Magazine, which was actually also going to be my first published article, yay ! :)

I was so proud and really thankful for the opportunity I got !

 I decided to write about five top trends for fall and went crazy to find the perfect pictures on Tumblr to accompany my article, unfortunately there wasn't enough room for them as you can see ;)

I will post a better picture of the article on the Kuhisi facebook page so you can all read it. The article is written in Dutch though, but it is based on several of my 'Fashion | Inspiration' posts on here and still to come, so the non-Dutch speaking followers won't miss out :p

I do want to note that there are about two construction errors in this article that must have slipped in during the process of editing, so they weren't in my original article. I'm just saying this to prevent someone from thinking that for a Language student I am rubbish at construction ;)

Are any of you going to the festival next month? :) I won't be able to go, because I'll be in Barcelona by then, otherwise I would have definitely been there !

Fashion | Inspiration - Zoe Sugg a.k.a. Zoella

A lot of people have those typical fashion icons, the super famous movie starts who have a budget as big as Russia, but I tend to go more towards people that have kind of a more down to earth style (Don't get me wrong, I like the big stars too, but let's face it, I won't ever have a budget that huge !) I spend a lot of time all my time on YouTube (it's an addiction !) and one of my favourite people on YouTube is the lovely Zoe Sugg :) She is such a sweet girl, she has an awesome sense of fashion, that British accent, the fact that she kind of made me look at myself and realise that I might be having anxiety causing my way too often panic attacks, ... She's amazing ! 

I like the fact that she dresses in what seems like a very comfortable style; oversized tops, flowy dresses, loose shirts, ... She also has this really awesome way of combining sweet with edgy and I really like that ! When I've gone shopping lately I've found myself thinking a lot "This is definitely something Zoe would wear !" or "How would Zoe combine this?" (And no, I'm not a stalker, just a huge fan haha ! But now that I think about it, she also was the reason why I got my hair ombre-ed, I'm freaking myself out right now hehe !)

Bit of beauty in here, but needless to say that I also adore her make up and hairstyles ! I was so excited when a couple of months ago she uploaded her first make up tutorial and a hair tutorial. And once again needless to say, that I have been rocking these a lot since then, oh yes I did !

Beauty | Haul - Collective

It has been a while since I did a beauty haul, so obviously the next one would be a gigantic one ;) This pile is the result of several shopping trips and drugstore visits with my mom, so without further ado, let's dig in !

Garnier Body Repair Repairing body milk | I was on the hunt for a body milk that I could use everyday when I hop out of the shower, so obviously one that wasn't far too expensive. This one is perfect, it isn't super expensive, the bottle is huge (400 ml) and it works like a dream.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original | I use dry shampoo quite often because my hair doesn't have a lot of texture to it and squirting some dry shampoo in there helps a lot on that front. I previously owned the XXL volume version of this dry shampoo and it did a good job, but I didn't really need the volume so I decided to get the normal one this time.

L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray | This is such a classic when it comes to hairspray and though it is quite pricey, I love it so much ! I really love the scent of it and it doesn't make my hair look dusty or sticky.

Nivea Pure & Natural deodorant in Jasmine | I am quite difficult when it comes to deodorant and while I know that I should opt for roll on one, they don't quite work for me. During puberty a lot of people go through a stage where they sweat a lot and boy did I hate that stage. I have a super sensitive nose, so the moment when I start smelling my own sweat the littlest bit I will freak out completely. Needless to say that I am quite demanding when it comes to deodorant. But I really love this one, it is really gentle, smells super fresh and lasts all day.

Palmolive Naturals Ultra Hydrating shower milk with olives and hydrating milk | Once in a while I cave again for this one. I think it was about three years ago that I went to France with my chummy and her parents and discovered this shower cream. I tend to go towards this one every summer and thus it reminds me of a lot of summer memories. It smells so good and is super moisturising.

Garnier Pure Active Fruit Energy facial scrub in grapefruit and pomegranate | I am currently changing up my skincare routine after using the Clinique 3-steps system for two years, because I noticed that my skin really got used to it and it didn't work as well anymore. So I was on the hunt for a gentle scrub suitable for daily use and found this one. So far I've been liking it a lot. It is really gentle and smells so good ! Normally I don't like citrussy cents, but oh boy does this one smell nice !

The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner for combination to oily skin | I was on the hunt for a new toner and while I was picking up a new scrub at The Body Shop my eyes were drawn to this one. Aside the body butters and hand creams, I haven't tried a lot from The Body Shop so I was curious about the rest of their products. I like this so far, it is a lot more gentle than my Clinique toner and leaves my face feeling super clean and fresh.

Lush Grease Lightning (or Spotlight for the French version) anti acne treatment | Also part of changing up my routine was choosing another spot treatment for my occasional acne. After hearing Ingrid, a.k.a. MissGlamorazzi, and Joey Graceffa rave about this one, I really wanted to try it, so I went ahead and bought it ;) I can't really judge it yet, but I can tell you that this one smells amazing, oh dear lord !

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light | I fell in love with this one last summer and resisted not to buy it all summer, but trying out other BB creams, none of them could make me forget this one. I caved !

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Light (I think, because the packaging doesn't say what shade this is) | I am really difficult when it comes to concealer, most concealers are just too dark for me (even the lightest shade !) I've tried a lot of different ones, but haven't found the perfect one yet. This one however has made a really good first impression ! It fits (Yeah, Fit Me, it's in the name isn't it?) my skin tone perfectly and doesn't leave patches on my skin. So I've been loving it so far.

Bourjous Colour Boost in Peach on the Beach | I am expanding my lip products collection and after hearing Zoe, a.k.a. Zoella, and my chum, Hannah, rave about this I decided that I needed this one in my life. Perfect colour, perfect consistency, love it !

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 111 (Kiss of Life) | I have been eyeing the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks for a while and finally caved. I am truly, madly, deeply in love with these ones ! They smell amazing and the finish of them is so pretty. They look gorgeous, the colours are perfect and they last for such a long time ! I think I might buy another one pretty soon !

Maybelline Tenue & Strong PRO in Orange Couture (This is the French name, I couldn't find the English one, sowwy) | This is the first time that I tried drugstore nailpolish and I'm wondering why I waited so long ... This nailpolish was such a pretty opaque colour after only one coat, it is mind blowing ! Five days strong without chipping, woohoow !

Lifestyle | Monthly goals - August

Hi lovelies !

I saw this type of post over on another blog and really wanted to give it a try :)

Basically at the beginning of a new month I'll be sharing my goals with you and recapping how I did on achieving the previous goals. I am the type of person that loves making lists (I downloaded Wunderlist for my phone and it is exploding, haha !) and I think sharing these with you will make me even more motivated to achieve them ;)

So here are my goals for August !

1. Start eating healthy again.

2. Get into a good exercise routine.

3. Be more concious with money.

4. Set up good schedules and routines to keep on track with my life.

5. Go to bed at a sensible hour.

There was a time when I was super concious about what I ate and drank and when I was so good on track with exercising and keeping my weight balanced, but then college happened ! I've gained quite a few kilos and I would very much like to get rid of them, but that's not the only reason to start eating healthy again. I feel so much better physically and emotionally when I maintain a healthy lifestyle, so that's kind of a big reason too. 

I've had quite some summer jobs the past months and I'm proud to have gained a good amount of money. I bought something that I've been wanting for years and now it's time to start getting more concious when spending my money. (Because normally I spend everything I gained over the summer in only two months ... auwtch !)

I am a girl that needs a lot of structure and control to be happy and to be at ease, but then again college happened. I've lost track of all my routines and recently came to the conclusion that this was one of the reasons why I felt like everything was happening out of my control. (Being the major control freak that I am, you can imagine that this was horrible to me) So time to get those routines going once again !

I realised that I need much more sleep than I used to need and going to bed at 2 a.m. and waking up at 8 a.m. doesn't quite do the trick for me any more. Going to bed earlier it is !

Fashion | Fall/Winter - Inspiration - Beanies

Hi there !

I know it's still summer, but boy am I excited for fall ! And there is one trend that I'm particularly excited about, BEANIES !

Last winter I have worn my light pink beanie to death (and don't get me started on the matching scarf !) Beanies are just that one piece that can make your outfit complete and rescue you on those awful bad hair days ! Plus I don't really like wearing my hair plain all the time, so a beanie is a very quick way to change up your hairstyle and it will keep you nice and warm all day !

I can't wait to start wearing these again :)

Beauty | Review - Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Hi there !

A few weeks ago I bought the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation, but due to very hot weather here in Belgium and tons of BB creme it took me quite a while to use the product a sufficient amount of time to be able to review it :) Without further ado, here is my review !

Application | This is such an easy foundation to apply ! The bottle has this little pump that provides you with the ideal amount to cover your whole face (but I do add about half a pump to be able to cover my neck area too !) Once on your face this product adapts so easily and perfectly to my skin tone, it's like magic ! ^^

Consistency | Nothing super special about the consistency, it's a regular foundation consistency. It is really lightweight with a good amount of coverage ;)

Smell | The typical Rimmel foundation smell and I am in love with it, hmmm ! 

Feel | This foundation feels so light, you almost don't notice it being on your face. Some foundations really feel like they're clogging your pores, but this one really allows your face to breathe while giving you a sufficient amount of coverage for a fresh face :)

Result | It gives your face a nice fresh and pretty matt finish (and I have VERY oily skin, just so you know !) For me it's the ideal foundation to use on both days where you want to glam up and those days where you just want to slap on some foundation and mascara and be on the go :)

Lasting time | I would say the foundation lasts about a good 12 hours, but with some blotting papers and compact powder it's easily touched up and in full force ! I wouldn't say the coverage lasts as long, but some concealer and you're good to go ;)

To me this product is definitely worth the money, I'm so pleased I bought it :)

Best Song Ever by One Direction, uhu, this happens a lot these last few weeks, haha ! Oh well, guess I'm a bit of a (not so) secret directioner ;)

2) The last thing that made you laugh?

Hmmm, probably the fact that Zoella and Tyler Oakley did a Boyfriend Tag together, while everyone thought it would be Alfie haha. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, watch the video here :))

3) If you had to change your name, what would you pick?

I would go for Elle, because I think it is such a feminine and beautiful name !

4) Your favorite thing about yourself?

The fact that I have quite a lot of discipline to achieve the things I want so much :)

I would be a regular vanilla cookie with chocolate, because I love vanilla but I'm obsessed with chocolate, haha :p

Probably the moment when I got home from my summer job and could finally start wandering around the internet ;)

I wanted to be a veterinarian for a long time, then I wanted to be an air hostess (*air hostess I like the way you dress* Does anyone remember that song? haha) and since high school I have a huge desire to become a journalist :)

Lifestyle | Giveaway

Hi there !

I already told you guys that I was accepted to write a piece for the Antwerp Fashion Festival magazine, but I haven't told you that I was gifted some tickets to the launch party to give to you !

I gifted some of them to friends of mine that I wanted to be there really badly, but I saved five of them for my lovely readers :D

I'm still waiting to get a little more information about the party, but since the party is not that long ahead of us I thought I'd already get a giveaway going !

Favourites | July

July is over, so it is time for my favourites of the past month. 

Beauty 

Rimmel Scandal Eye's Mascara | This one comes with a very long story, maybe not that long but anyways. I bought the waterproof version first and really liked it, but removing it with Bioderma wasn't the best idea. My eyes ended up being super red and achy, so I thought that I was allergic to waterproof make up. BUT a few weeks ago I bought and oil based make up remover and I haven't had a single problem with this mascara ever since. I really like it, it leaves no clumps, separates every lash beautifully and really opens up your eyes :) (Review and pictures coming soon ;))

L'oréal Professionnel Absolut Repair Cellular serum | I was really scared that ever since I got my hair ombre-ed, it would be super dry so I immediately bought a serum and leave in conditioner (here below) and I'm so pleased with them. The serum really moisturises my ends and makes them shine so prettily.

Kinactif Hydrator Nutri Moisturising treatment for dry hair | This leave in conditioner makes my hair so easy to comb through, it's like magic ! I don't really like the smell though, but it works perfectly.

My hair donut | We have had quite a heatwave here in Belgium and my go to hairstyle on these extremely hot days (especially when I was babysitting) was a classic donut bun. A very quick, fresh and classy hairstyle ;)

Fashion

My new white converses | If you follow me on Tumblr, you know that I've been eyeing these for quite a while. But since I already did a full blogpost on them, I won't get any further into it now ;)

Basic black and white t-shirts | I bought these at H&M and they weren't expensive at all. Just those basic pieces that can help you even out and balance an outfit.

Fake glasses | I bought my fake glasses at Rock Werchter and I love them. I've been wanting these for a while and I really like to pair them with otherwise basic outfits, just making it a bit more interesting :)

WE Earrings | These earrings were on sale at WE and I decided that I could just go ahead and buy them, because it had been quite a while since I bought some earrings. I threw away all of my earrings last year, because they were really childish and they looked so cheap, so now I'm letting myself buy more expensive pieces once in a while to get my collection going again.

Lifestyle

YouTube : Bethany Mota a.k.a. Macbarbie07 | For those who don't know her, she makes beauty and fashion videos (and vlogs) :) aaaand I love her ! She is so funny and sweet :) Her videos are so good, I never disliked even one. Definitely go check out her channel, you won't regret it ;)

Music : Ben Howard and Bon Iver | I'm currently changing my taste in music, I believe (I was really into hipster music the past six months, but I'm going back to quiet folky music and popular music) These two though have never left my iTunes. These guys are amazing, their music is so soothing and calming. I actually saw them both live and that was even better than their albums, just per-fect. Especially in summer, I tend to blast these a lot ;)

Series : The White Queen | This new series started recently on BBC One and I'm obsessed ! Read more about it in my full blogpost :)

Book : The Great Gatsby | I finally finished this book and though I liked it, I think I'll need to read it another time to really understand and appreciate it. I must admit that I often read this when I was tired and fell asleep while reading, so some parts of the book are quite blurry :p It definitely deserves a second read !

Lifestyle | It's August !

It's august, loves !

Even with this extremely hot weather that we're having in Belgium, I find myself longing for fall already ! So that explains the more autumn-ish moodboard for the month of august.

On to the quote ! I love this one by Emma Watson, because I think of myself a lot as kind of an outsider. I have these weird tastes in music, movies and then there are my extremely big dreams. I chose this quote to encourage myself to be just me and to be happy with the person that I am and the things that I truly like :)
