Lifestyle | Projet C - Introduction

It has become painfully clear to me that I have been living under some kind of rock these last few years, hidden far far away from all things movies and series. Last weekend my boyfriend and I were scrolling through a list of movies appearing in theatres in 2013, but whenever we came across a sequel, I hadn't even seen the first movie yet. Later that same night we were watching the MTV movie awards and oh yes, most of those movies I hadn't even seen yet. That's when I decided (or more like, my boyfriend said to me) that I needed to draw up a list of movies and series that I absolutely have to watch. So I did, last Monday. That's when the idea arose to make this into a project, linked with Kuhisi. ProjectC was born ! (C for Cinema btw)
So the idea is that every evening I watch at least one episode of a series or a (part of a) movie and report back to you guys on my experiences over here.
Since Monday I have been watching one or two episodes of season one of the Big Bang Theory every evening and I really have been liking it so far, so that will be one of the first things I'll be reporting back on. Keep your eyes peeled for that one !

Time to leave the rock behind and get on track with cinema !
À bientôt !

Love,
K.

Lifestyle | Movie - The Host

I'm going to be honest, the main reason for me to watch this movie was Max Irons ('The White Queen') and my expectation weren't very high, but boy this movie proved me wrong ! It was so good ! (I cried, oh what's new?!)

It is based on the novel written by Stephenie Meyer, a.k.a. the author of the Twilight Saga, and while I loved reading these books and some of the movies, I didn't think that The Host would be this good. I kind of neglected the book every time I stumbled upon it, but after seeing the movie I might just read it in the near future :) I don't know why but when I read the summary or watch the trailer, I still don't get the same vibe that I had while watching the movie and the story doesn't come across as strong as it actually is. So I guess you'll have to trust me on my word for this one ;)

"A race of aliens who are non corporeal go from planet to planet looking for hosts. They come to Earth and basically take over human bodies. Now it's believed that once they take over a body all memories of the previous inhabitant are gone. And there are some humans who have remain hidden from them and are basically a resistance movement. So an alien charged with locating them known as the Seeker captures one of them a girl named Melanie and puts one of them who is known as Wanderer in her body, in hopes of finding out where the humans are. But Melanie for some reason is still there and she convinces Wanderer not to say anything to Seeker. Wanderer feels empathy for the humans. When Seeker is disappointed at her lack of progress, she informs Wanderer that she'll be removed and placed in a new host and she will be placed in Melanie. Melanie knowing she can't convince her the way she convinced Wanderer convinces Wsnderer to run away and they can meet with the humans. Eventually they find them but only want to kill her but Jeb, Melanie's uncle for some reason doesn't want to. Jared, Melanie's boyfriend wants her dead too. But Ian someone Jeb tasked with keeping her safe finds himself attracted to her but Melanie won't allow it because she wants to go back to Jared. But how do they get Wanderer out of her. And Seeker is trying to find her."

Lifestyle | Movie - Now Is Good

Helloooooo !

Well Friday night I decided to watch a movie, because I earned it after a hard week of finals :) My mom and I opted for 'Now Is Good', an adaption of the novel 'Before I Die' by Jenny Downham. I've been wanting to read the book for a while and I prefer reading a book before watching the movie adaption, but there are so many books on my list and so little time, so I decided to just go ahead.

I can tell you, I've never cried this much when watching a movie and same goes for my mom.We were both sobbing, tissues ready from the beginning of the movie.

The main actors in the movie are Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irvine, they both did such a great job !
Here below I'll post a summary of the story and the trailer ;) I would love to write a full review on this movie, but English Linguistics is calling me and I do have an exam tomorrow. But if you would like me to do a full review, let me know and in a week when I'm done with finals, I'll do a more in depth review :)

"Tessa has just a few months to live.
Fighting back against hospital visits, endless tests, drugs with excruciating side-effects, Tessa compiles a list. It's her To Do Before I Die list. And number one is sex.

Released from the constraints of 'normal' life, Tessa tastes new experiences to make her feel alive while her failing body struggles to keep up.

Tessa's feelings, her relationships with her father and brother, her estranged mother, her best friend, her new boyfriend, all are painfully crystallized in the precious weeks before Tessa's time finally runs out."

Talk to you soon !
