Lifestyle | Update

Hi there !
Well, I was planning on writing a blogpost tonight, but a few things asked a lot of my attention and I am super excited to tell you about them !
A few weeks ago I applied to be a contributor for the Antwerp Fashion Festival Magazine and I hadn't thought about it a lot these last few days, buuuuut today I got an email to tell me that I have been accepted ! YIKES ! I didn't expect this at all and feel like this could be a big opportunity in the process of making my dream (becoming a fashion journalist) come true :) I have three days to write a piece for the magazine, so I'm in the process of brainstorming and I hope to be able to write some good things down tomorrow :)

Also, I finally ordered my iPhone 5 today, which is like huge because I earned the money all by myself and I'm so proud that I did !

So, I'm sorry, no decent blogpost today because my mind is really all over the place and so I thought I would post a little update and leave you with a song that describes my mood in the best possible way 'Happy' by C2C ;)

I love you !

Lifestyle | Visit - Beloeil Castle

Hi there !

Because I've been absolutely obsessed with the British series The White Queen, me and my dad went to visit a castle in the Belgian town Beloeil last week :)

It is a beautiful medieval castle, claimed to be the Belgian version of Versailles.

Inside the castle is kept very carefully, furniture and art are still in place and very well treated. I loved the medieval vibe the place gave me, it was kind of magical being able to walk where counts and countesses have walked ages ago.
The only thing that displeased me a bit was that sometimes light and power switches were very prominent and that sometimes beautiful carpets were hidden under a layer of other carpets to preserve them.

The castle is surrounded by a huge garden and almost every window had a magnificent view. Can you imagine waking up, drawing back the curtains and the first thing you see is a massive tree with little birds in it? :)

As a book lover, the library was my favourite piece. Each wall is completely covered in books, carefully kept behind glass. The library is completely furnitured in wood which gives the light in there a very warm tone. Perfect for an afternoon of book reading and tea sipping ;)

My second favourite place was a little hall covered completely in portraits, like this one here above of Marie-Antoinette.

The first thing you see when heading out to the garden is the massive pond in the centre. Absolutely stunning ! But when you step a little closer, you can already notice that the garden and pond aren't very well kept. The pond is covered with plants and the statues are slowly degrading.

Judging from the pictures on the information boards, the garden used to be so lovely. Each tree was cut very neatly and the ponds would be so smooth that they resembled mirrors. But those things are nowhere to be seen these days. The trees overshadow the gardens and the ponds are covered in dirt and plants. I was disappointed to see that such a beautiful garden could be so neglected.
There were also certain parts of the garden that weren't open to the public, parts that seemed really lovely like the orangery and the chapel for example. I would have loved to see those.

The castle is definitely worth a visit, but to me the garden was disappointing, maybe because my expectations were a bit too high... The inside is definitely worth it ;)

Fashion | Inspiration - Sweaters

Hi there !

So I've been quite obsessed with sweaters ... Here in Belgium summers aren't always super hot, but these last few weeks we actually had a heatwave, yay ! That aside, I found myself preparing for autumn and obsessing over sweaters. :p
I already had a few sweaters that I bought last year and I might be stocking up on new ones already ... I like sweaters because it is a very casual piece but at the same time you can dress them up very easily. You can opt for a sweater with writings for a more casual event and one with some studs/gems for a more formal event. It are very versatile pieces; you can wear them with jeans, pants, leggings, skirts, over dresses and they will keep you warm all day.
Most of the time I just wear a basic t-shirt underneath the sweater, nothing too special except for when it is actually hot enough to take the sweater off and show a really pretty t-shirt.

Enough rambling about sweaters. I wanted to give you a quick update too :) So last week I started my first student job of this summer (I actually have two, maybe even three) which is babysitting whole days, so I haven't had a lot of time to write blogposts, that's why I have been a bit missing in action ;) On Monday I start my second job, which is an administrative job so a 9 to 5 one that will allow me to get writing again, yay ! That's it for now ;)

Talk to you soon !

Also, this ;)

Beauty | Inspiration - Neutral/Nude make up

Hellooooo !

I thought I'd be time for another beauty inspiration post :)

I'm currently in love with very neutral and almost bare skin like make up. While I love some very smokey looks, those never work out very well when I attempt them myself and I end up most of the time looking like a very ugly panda. That's why most of the time I go for a very nude look, using a lot of products but making it look like you're barely wearing anything. I love these looks especially for summer, because heavy make up looks will easily smudge when the weather's especially hot.
Right now I'm focusing on actually using less products, so I'm working on reducing the look to the very base. Once I figure that out, I'll maybe attempt my first 'tutorial' like post on here, we'll see ;)

Talk to you soon !

Lifetyle | Series - The White Queen

Hi there !

I have a new series addiction and it's called The White Queen (BBC One - 9 p.m.)
The series is based on three books written by Philippa Gregory, The White Queen, The Red Queen and The Kingsmaker's Daughter. It tells the story of the War of the Roses in England, the war between the red rose (Lancaster) and the white rose (York). Each book tells the story from a different point of view and those views are combined in the series.

Last year I read the White Queen for my English exam and loved it so much, that I was super excited for this series to come out ! It will air next year in Belgium, but I couldn't wait so I began to watch it on BBC One :)
Let me tell you, the series doesn't fail to please (this seems to be my favourite sentence this last month, haha) The novel is very accurately followed and the special atmosphere is certainly preserved.
I can only talk about the part that I read (The White Queen) but the series got me interested to read the other two novels.

In my opinion the actors do a great job. Rebecca Ferguson portrays Elizabeth Woodville just as I imagined her to be. Not to mention how good Max Irons is as Edward of York ! Seriously, the guy gives me goosebumps in places I won't even begin to mention haha :p In the novel King Edward is portrayed as a very strong, kind, brave, romantic person and this is exactly the vibe the Irons shows in his acting.
A little special thing is that one of our Belgian actors, Veerle Baetens, was asked to play the role of Margaret of Anjou (The Red Queen) and she does an excellent job !

Ah look at those York boys, hmmmmm ! I am so impressed by the series and once again sucked into the 15th century that I find myself reading a lot about it on Wikipedia and craving to read all of Philippa Gregory's books haha :)
I could go on about this series for hours, but I'm going to let the series talk for itself by adding a little clip at the end of this post. Enjoy ! ;)

Talk to you soon !
