Fashion | Femmes Fatales

On Monday I was feeling so poorly, I think I had a small case of the stomach flu, and when I feel poor there's only one thing I want to do : Watching Breakfast At Tiffany's, my favourite movie of all time. And whilst I was enjoying some quality time in bed, I got the idea to start a new section on here introducing the Femmes Fatales that inspire me in terms of fashion and beauty.

This first post is just to introduce you guys to the idea behind it and how I will tackle each femme.
So basically every post will be written around one particular inspirational woman. First of all I'll introduce her to you guys, give some information. Second, I'll talk about her style and influence in terms of fashion. And third, I'll tackle her signature make up look :)

I'll leave it at this ! I hope you guys are as excited as me about this new section, because oh boy I am ^^
But now, I really have to go to bed, seriously I need to get up at 7 a.m. !

Love,
Kelly

Lifestyle | Travel - Barcelona Pt. 1

It's time to share my vacation pics with you guys ! :)
As you all know, I went to Barcelona in September and loved every second of the trip, it was that good !
I took a lot of pictures, but I also filmed a lot in the intention of making a nice little vlog out of it. I am however struggling with the vlog, because I didn't really think about copyright music-wise, so it's kinda difficult to find a good soundtrack that I am allowed to use without having to pay :/
So for now, I am just sharing the pictures. Here we go !

My favourite neighbourhood in Barcelona was by far El Born ! There's such a nice vibe of creativity and chill-ness. You can find lots of beautiful shops and nice (and not so pricey) restaurants in El Born. We actually came back here every night for dinner and (almost) always had a nice meal for a low price ;)

In the picture above and below you can see the archaeological site of El Born.  I don't really know if this is a very well-known site, because we just happened to stumble upon it. Those were the finds that made this trips so much fun actually ! "Maybe we should go in there?" "Okay, why not?" "Well look at that, it's an archaeological site !"

On one of the more dreary days during our stay, we decided to visit the Museum of Contemporary art or MACBA. It was absolutely stunning ! I'm not really a huge fan of contemporary art, but I really liked the atmosphere in the building and appreciated quite a number of artworks.

I really liked the architecture at MACBA, so simplistic yet complicated. (Just me trying to be artsy ... ;))

Look at those gorgeous hallways ! The building just breathes art ...

I really loved the photography pieces, very intriguing. We also saw a snippet of a movie based on the life of a woman who had 'no identity' for more than ten years, it surely was a captivating story !

I also really liked the typography on the wall of the main hallway, which I think functioned as a kind of definition of contemporary art (second picture here below)

On the same dreary day we decided to visit the aquarium of Barcelona ! This aquarium is said to be one of the most beautiful aquariums in Europe and whilst it was a cool aquarium, I didn't really think it was worth the €20 entrance ticket... Nonetheless, we had a blast spotting strange fish and making up Finding Nemo jokes.

On about the third day we started a little Gaudi inspired discovery of Barcelona and of course we started with the Sagrada Familia. This really is such a gorgeous and inspiring place ! I'm not that religious, but churches always leave quite an impression on me and this one left quite the impression ...

The outside of the Sagrada Familia is very detailed and we actually spend quite some time spotting everything told by the sculptures. We didn't really have a guided visit, because we were just a few minutes too late to join the previous group and hours early to join the next one, but I think it's best to actually take a guided tour (but check timing in advance) or opt for an audioguide, because there is just so much to look at and it would make up for a much more structured visit. Also make sure you visit this first thing in the morning or after lunch, because the line before entering is most of the time really long and the visit itself takes up quite some time. And believe me, you don't want to be hungry when wandering around this treasure of architecture and art.

I absolutely loved how perfectly planned every detail of the Sagrada Familia is ! Gaudi thought it all through to the tiniest little detail and this is what makes the church so magnificent. Just look at those tree-like pillars that make the inside of the church look like an actual forest !

We actually joked about going back on this same trip in 13 years possibly with futur boyfriend/husband and kids (oh yes we did) to be able to see the finished Sagrada Familia :p

Okay, this was part one of my trip to Barcelona ! Part two will be up on Friday, so stay tuned ;)

Kelly

Fashion | Inspiration - Cosy Knit Sweaters

One thing I sure love about Fall/Winter are the cosy sweaters ! I already mentioned my love for sweaters, I know, but see this as my Fall/Winter edition of the sweater post ;)

Layering is my favourite part about these seasons and sweaters/cardigans are ideal for this. My 'style' is all about being cosy and comfortable, rather than all dolled up and not at ease. I'm not going to repeat myself but, sweaters are the perfect piece to either dress up or down. But for more on that, I refer you to my last sweater related post.

Beauty | Winter Skincare - Morning Routine

With winter just around the corner, it's time to give your skin a little bit more love. So today, I am sharing my morning skincare routine with y'all. Before I start I just want to mention that I have combination to oily skin that is extremely sensitive and acne prone (Just so you know if this routine would work for you too)

I always start my mornings with a nice and refreshing shower and always take this La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel with me. In fact almost all of my skincare products are from the Effaclar range by La Roche-Posay, because I like it so much ! It is a little bit on the pricey side, but it is definitely worth the splurge if you want clear and healthy skin.

When I hop out of the shower it's time for another round of cleaning. To remove all of the oil, remnants of make up, ... I use the Miccelaire Sollution by La Roche-Posay on a large exfoliating cotton pad (as seen below).

I always use exfoliating cotton pads because I feel like they get rid of everything much better than normal cotton pads and leave your skin super clean.

Then I follow up with a bit of La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micro-exfoliating Lotion once again on an exfoliating cotton pad. This will make sure your skin is squeaky clean before hitting the moisturiser.

Next step is treating my eyes to a bit of moisture. I am currently using the Olaz Total Effects 7, but I can't really tell if I like it or not. Lack of sleep made my eyes really stingy, so I needed something to calm them down. I did catch up on sleep ánd bought this cream, so I don't quite know which one did the better job...

And the last step is moisturiser, I am currently using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Sebo-regulating moisturiser. This one helps me keeping my face shine free and minimises my pores at least a little bit.

I am really loving this routine and notice a huge difference with my last routine. My face calmed down, looks healthy and feels super soft.

If you want me to do a detailed review on one of these products, comment down below, and don't be afraid to ask any questions, I'd be happy to help !

Kelly

Lifestyle | Music - Sleep by I Will, I Swear

"whenever you're down and out
and your heart's filled with doubt
i will guide you through"

Being a huge music person, I thought I'd start sharing some of my music inspiration with you guys :) I don't have a fixed taste in music, I like all sorts of music; my iTunes is probably the strangest combination of music genres haha ! I would say that my main tastes in alternative music are indie, easy listening and electronic music. Besides those genres I like to listen to the occasional poppy song once in a while, but my love for alternative and not so well known music is a bit bigger.

Today I discovered this gorgeous song by the Belgian band I Will, I Swear and I fell in love with the sound of it. Do you guys have that sometimes? Just loving how a song sounds? And when I listened to the words of it, it all came together, I love this song so much !
Also, the clip made for this song is simply stunning, it seriously made my all emotional and near to crying (oh yes, being a girly girl !)

Give it a listen and tell me what you think ;)

Fashion | Inspiration - Hats

One trend I've been liking very much for fall are hats !
They can give a very elegant and chique touch to an otherwise very casual outfit. My favourite kind of hats are the kind of woollen like textured ones, they look super cosy and they seems so warm !
I'm still a bit unsure about whether I'll give this trend an actual try, but I'm so very tempted. These last few weeks I've been loving adding accessories to my hair (think : bandannas, bows, metallic ponytail rings, beanies, ...) and I'd love to get my hands on a pretty hat to add to the hair department.
Plus these also seem to come in handy on bad hair and face days since the attention will probably be focused elsewhere, BONUS !

I'll keep you posted on the hat hunting !

Kelly

Lifestyle | Monthly Goals - October

It is time to recap on September's goals and tell you all about my goals for october/the whole academical year.

So last month's goals :

1. Continue eating healthy.
I've been a good girl this month, eating healthy and taking my home made lunch to school :) I did actually went for fast food one time this week, but oh well, just once in a while isn't that bad ! My current eating routine makes me really happy and is actually all about eating smaller portions several times a day. It does the trick for me, because I'm happy with my body shape again :)

2. Get into a good exercise routine.
I've been a good girl in terms of exercise too ! My current exercise routine includes swimming, yoga and my weekend job (like seriously, this counts as a workout too !) On Monday I go swimming for about an hour and on Wednesday I have a one hour yoga class scheduled. I love these kinds of sports ! With swimming I don't feel sweaty afterwards which is a big win, it's very fresh and clean feeling plus it helps me to wind down at the end of the day. The kind of yoga class I attend is power yoga, which is basically toning your muscles while relaxing. Once again, after class I feel so relaxed and energized, it works wonders. I can tell you, at the end of the week I can definitely feel that I've been exercising more haha !

3. Be more concious with money.
I'm getting better and better at this ! Ever since I got a weekend job, I've been super concious about money. (Like my motivation to get up and go to work is seriously "Think of all the lipsticks and nail polishes you could buy !) I haven't been shopping in a while (not counting empty products that needed to be replaced...) and I think I'm going to treat myself very soon to a concious shopping trip in Brussels (If I manage to find some spare time in my busy busy schedule !)

4. Try to enjoy the last bits of summer, try not to worry too much !
I did enjoy my last weeks of summer so much ! I went on a trip to Barcelona and this was the ideal way to enjoy the last week before school to the fullest. We had an amazing time and when we came back, I felt completely ready to go back to uni !

5. Make sure you are well rested and prepared before school starts.
I was very well rested and prepared when school started three weeks ago, unfortunately right now I'm super tired and going on not that much sleep ... I have so much on my schedule these days and when it comes to choosing between doing less of the things I love or sleeping less ... sleeping loses ... I've been really busy for school (a lot of deadlines this semester), working weekends in a restaurant to earn some money, exercising, keeping up with vlogs and blogs, hanging out with friends and family ... it has been quite a month !

And then these are my goals for October (and actually for the entire academical year) !
1. Make a good schedule for school work and keep it up !
2. Be yourself; no matter what, where, when or whom.
3. Don't go shopping after class ! (Did that way too much last year)
4. Eat healthy, stay away from the vending machines !
5. Enjoy every moment of being a student !
6. Blog, blog, blog !

What are your goals for October?
Love,
Kelly

Favorites | September

BEAUTY
My new skincare routine | Late September I realised that drugstore products weren't really doing the trick for my acne prone skin, so I decided to go and buy some more expensive products. I am in love with my current skincare routine, my skin has cleared up beautifully and it feels amazing. I won't go into much detail just now because I have a huge Winter Skincare project appearing soon on here ;)
Maybelline The Rocket Mascara in Black | I'd heard about this one so many times and decided to see if all the rumours were true. Well, they are, it is an amazing mascara, it does unfortunately smudge on me ... However I like it so much that I kind of accepted the smudging and just check my eyelids every hour haha ! But I will get the waterproof one next time, no smudging anymore !
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer in Ivory | An oldie but a goodie, fell in love with this concealer all over again. I love it to pieces !

FASHION
Brandy Melville Black Skirt | I bought this right before we headed to Barcelona and wore it to pieces while strolling down the famous Rambla. I love this skirt, it is simple and basic what allows me to pair it with more statement like pieces. I wear this skirt a lot with oversized t-shirt and my polka dot printed thights :)
Primark Denim Polka Dot Shirt | We do have a Primark here in Belgium, but unfortunately it is in Liège, which is still a long journey away from my hometown. Really, it's like a pilgrimage everytime Hannah and I go there. So when Lien and I discovered the Primark in Barcelona, we were far too excited ! This shirt is one of the things I bought and I love it soooo much.
Dainty Necklaces | I've been really into small and dainty jewellery and really like the idea of stacking them. I already had the larger Brandy Melville necklace and bought the smaller Bershka one in Barcelona to start my stacking collection.
Stacking Rings | Same goes for rings, stacking away ! I bought this huge pack of dainty small rings at H&M for €7 and they are amazing !

LIFESTYLE
MOMENT - Our trip to Barcelona | Of course my favorite moment was our trip to Barcelona ! We had such a good time :) Just chilling, visiting a lot of touristy things, doing some shopping, enjoying the food, ... But I'll tell you more about it in my upcoming travel diary :)
MUSIC - Bibio | I've been loving the 'new-ish' Bibio album (Silver Wilkinson) ! I don't exactly know when it came out, but I just discovered it at the end of september and it's been on repeat ever since. I'm especially loving À Toute À L'Heure and You Won't Remember.
FOOD - Greek Yoghurt with honey | I like eating granola for breakfast so much, that I have to contain myself not to eat it every morning so I've been on the hunt for something really yummy to eat on alternate days and stumbled upon the best thing in the history of mankind. Greek yoghurt with some honey drizzeled over it, hmmm ! This come very close to my love for granola, like seriously !
YOUTUBE - Sammi a.k.a Beautycrush | I've been loving Sammi's channel so much ! She is such a sweet girl with an awesome taste in fashion :) I've been super inspired by her fashion lookbooks and her latest Get Ready With Me ! You can check her channel out over here and her vlog channel over here ;)
BOOK/MAGAZINE - Elle Belgium | I've been on the hunt for a good magazine to read on a regular basis for a while, but I never found something that completely suited me. I guess there isn't simply one magazine that completely satisfies your cravings, but Elle Belgium comes very close. Every spare minute or even second I spend reading this one ;)

Lifestyle | It's October

Towards the end of summer I kind of got into a more minimalistic and simplistic style after being into light-white styles for a while. My Tumblr was mainly white-beige-creme inspired, but ever since I started reblogging whatever were inspiring pictures to me, it dawned on me that my tastes had shifted. I changed my blogname from Vanillacreamlatte to Rev-euse, just because the name didn't quite suite the content anymore and I had the other name in mind for a very long time.
That said, the new direction and inspiration can be seen in this month's moodboard. A lot of black, white and brown in there and of course more autumnal inspiration than last month.

Every year towards the end of summer, my anxiety kicks in harder than ever and this year was no different. I had quite a few panickattacks to deal with and well, my moral has known better days. That's why I chose this quote, to remind me that only a positive attitude will take me to positive things and help me leave the negative behind :) I did have a really good talk with my chum last night and I feel like I'm getting out of my dark place, slowely but surely. I do feel like every low helps me understand this anxiety thing better and I do get up a little bit quicker every time. Positive things !

Have a wonderful October !

Love,
Kelly
