Beauty | Everyday Light Make Up

With uni starting all over again and having to wake up every morning at 6 o'clock again, my bathroom time will be a little bit more limited. So I've come up with a make up look that I can do in 10 mintes or even less and I thought I would share it with you guys and let you know what my favourite products of the moment are all at the same time ;)

Before starting make up I go through my skincare routine, that way my face is completely clean and there's less chance of my pores clogging up.
First off I apply my Body Shop All-In-One BB Creme in the colour 00 (which is a formula that adapts to your own skin colour, which comes in very handy right after summer). The BB creme looks very natural on the skin and consequently doesn't have a lot of coverage, so then I head in with some concealer. I still use the same old Maybelline Dreamlumitouch in 01 Ivory, because I basically am in love with it and it still hasn't failed me ever. Having to adjust again to the rhythm of going to class, the first weeks my dark circles will probably be in full bloom so that's why I use the Garnier BB Creme Miracle Skin Perfector. (TIP : If you keep this little tube in the fridge, it will also do a great job at de-puffing your eyes !)
With the base done, I almost look like a human being again, but some contouring always does a more believable job. So I start with the MAC bronzing powder in Golden in the hollows of my cheeks and on my temples. Then it's time for some life in those cheeks, right now I'm using the MAC extra dimension blush in Seduced At Sea. Before heading in with my Rimmel Stay Matte setting powder, I apply some Mac mineralize skinfinish in Soft & Gentle on my cheekbones to add a little dewiness to the look.
We're almost done, after the whole face base, it is time to colour a few things in. I start with my brows, using the trusty old Catrice eyebrow pencil in A Date With Ash-ton I fill them in and create a slight arch. And lastly the eyelashes deserve some love too, I'm currently loving the Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara, it really does a lovely allround job and looks almost like you're wearing fake lashes. Throw in some lipstick and you're ready to go !

This is just a very light and simple look that will last you all day while walking around campus and attending classes. And the best thing is, the BB Creme has a very good smell that lasts throughout the day right under your nose ;)

Love,
K.

Beauty | My Hair Routine Pt. 1

Bad hair days? Everyone has some of those once in a while. Today I'm going to tell you my secrets for making the hair look decent on these kinds of days.
My hair actually looks best on days when I just washed it in the morning, but I'm not a huge fan of washing it every single day so I leave at least one day in between washes. On those days my hair can look like quite the mess, so I've come up with some hairstyles to disguise all that mess going on.

1. THE DONUT BUN | You will need : A hair donut, a hair tie, some dry shampoo, some bobby pins and hair spray.

First off I spray some dry shampoo close to the roots of my hair (don't forget the back of your hair !) and rub that in. My favourite dry shampoo is the Baptist one in Cherry. I let this sit for about five minutes while I brush my teeth and wash my face. After those five minutes I comb through my hair until there's no longer any visible white leftover to be seen. Then I make a high ponytail and slip the donut over it. Once that's done I start twisting the ponytail around the donut until it is completely covered in hair. Now the only thing I have left to do is pinning up the little hairs in my neck that are too short to be incorporated in the donut and spray some hairspray to keep everything in place. Et voila we're done !
If you want your donut to be a little bit more messy like mine, try tugging on the sides of your hair to loosen it up a bit.

2. THE HAIR CLIP | You will need : A pretty hair clip of your choosing, some dry shampoo and some hair spray

This one is super super simple. I apply dry shampoo the same way as with the donut, then I section off the upper part of my hair and separate it in two halves. Then I twist those halves a bit and pin in the hair pin. Apply some hairspray to hold it in place et voila, you're done.

3. THE FRENCH BRAID | You will need : Hair ties (preferably small ones in a shade close to your hair colour), some dry shampoo and some hair spray.

This one is a bit more tricky, but with some practice you'll have it down in no time. So first off I apply some dry shampoo the same way I explained above and then I start french braiding the whole of my hair, which is the tricky part. (Click here for the video that learned me how to french braid) Then I pull the braid here and there to loosen it up and make it a bit more messy and then just spray it with some hair spray to keep everything in place et voila !

A few months ago I was contacted by the brand Casper, a start-up mattress company based out of New York City. They asked me to share my tips and tricks for bad hair days with you for their "Own Your Bed Head" project. And at the end of this project they will feature their favourite tips and tricks over on their site, so make sure to check those if you, like me, suffer from terrible bed hair from time to time !

What is Casper? Casper is a start-up mattress company based out of New York City. If you order their mattress it comes in a box and expands as you open it! They engineered their latex memory foam mattress to keep you cool at night but still give you the right supportive bounce. You can also try one for free for 100 nights, risk-free!

I'll leave you with that !

Beauty | Inspiration - Short Hair Don't Care

Well hi !

Sooooooo, I've had my long hair for about four years now and that's also about the time it took me to get it this long BUT I'm kind of getting tired of it. Sooooo I've decided that this is going to be my last week of long hair for a while. On Saturday I am going to the hairdressers to get a hell of a lot of hair chopped of and I'm going to get a semi long bob. However I'm going to add the ombre back in, because I loved the look of that on me and I don't want to lose that too (One thing at a time !).
I'm training myself in making life less difficult, because I have quite a big tendency to do that. So my mantra for this one is : It's only hair it'll grow back ... eventually hihi
But yeah, I wanted to show you the pictures, that I'm going to show the hairdressers to base my haircut on, to keep you updated. I'll definitely post photos of my new haircut once it's done, so keep your eyes peeled for those on Twitter and Instagram on Saturday (you can find the links in the contact section !)

I'll leave you with that !
Love,
Kelly

Beauty | Review - Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Hi there !
I have been a major fan of a certain foundation for about a good two years now and even though I tried other, I always find myself coming back to this one : the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation.

Application | This foundation goes on so smooth, it is literally like a dream. I love that the bottle has a little pump dispenser, 'cause it makes the whole application process a lot less messy ! The pump actually brings up the exact amount I need to cover my entire face, but I add a little more so I can go ahead and include my neck in the party.

Consistency | This foundation is a little bit more on the thicker side, but this makes for a very good coverage. For me this is just the right amount if coverage : enough to cover my spots and scars, but not too much so I doesn't look cakey or anything.

Smell | It has the typical Rimmel foundation smell, that reminds me a bit of sunscreen and thus gives me the perfect instant summer feeling.

Feel | The wonderful thing about this one is that it has quite good coverage, but doesn't feel like you have a ton of make up on. It doesn't bother me at all during the day.

Result | The result is a gorgeous dewy complexion because of the tiny sparkly bits in the foundation. I know, at first it sounds frightening glittery foundation ! But these glittery things do not show up that much at all, it's not like you're looking like one of those Twilight vampire things or whatever they are, the glittery ones. They give a slight dewy effect to your complexion and that's why it doesn't actually look like you have a lot of make up on.

Lasting time | I would say it lasts like a normal foundation. Given the fact that it is drug store and remains a foundation. But if you add a primer and some setting spray, you'll be able to rock this one all day I believe ('cause I don't own any of those YET)

I have got so many complements already on this one, you would hardly believe it ! Oh btw, I normally am shade 001 ivory but during summer I get 002 silky beige, because it make me look a little bit less pale and if I would end up having a tan for once this one would be the exact shade I feel.

Recommend | DEFINITELY !

Love,
K.

Beauty | YouTube's finest - MissGlamorazzi

Something different today in the light of my new more personal writing, I present to you one of my all time favourite YouTubers : Ingrid Nilsen a.k.a. Missglamorazzi ! Ingrid is one of the first people I subscribed to on YouTube and I have been watching aaaaaaaall of her videos ever since !

She has two YouTube channels, her main channel Missglamorazzi and her vlog channel Thegridmonster. On her main channel she covers subjects such as beauty, fashion and healthy food. On her vlog channel she basically vlogs (haha, obvious Kelly ... :p)
What I love about Ingrid's videos is that they are very 'structured' (that's the only word that seemed to fit here haha), what I mean is that her videos are always uploaded in time and that you can clearly see that she put a lot of hard work and planning into them. They are always super pretty edited and have the most cheerful feel to them.
Honestly, Ingrid seems like such a nice person to me ! I don't know, she seems to be someone who is always kind and cheerful :)
I particularly like her favorites videos, 'Get ready with me' videos and her DIY videos, those are the ones I just NEED to watch as soon as I can :) (Pssssst, I inserted a link with each type of video so you can have an idea of what I'm talking about ;))
By the way, she recently uploaded an apartment tour and her place looks so gorgeous ! Be sure to check that one out to ;)

Make sure to pay a little visit to her channel and subscribe, because you're in for lots of treats ;)

Beauty | Inspiration - Hair- Half updo's

No matter what hairtype you have, one way or the other them hairs are going to get in your way. When I'm at school, taking notes in class, I can't have my hair being all over the place. And while I do love ponytails and buns, sometimes I just want to keep my hair down, BUT out of my freaking way ;) I have found myself going towards half updo's on those kind of days and I'm kind of really liking it ! My face is hair free, but I still have the effect of having my hair down.
Right now I'm just clipping away my locks whit a nice hairclip, but I want to give these more special updo's as seen here above a try, being a bit more glamorous and shiz.
If your looking for a good tutorial on a half updo, Zoella recently posted one on here YouTube channel. It's a very pretty and simple updo, it won't take you that much time before leaving for school. I'm going to give this one a try some time soon ;)

Beauty | Inspiration - Messy Waves

I have been on the lookout for a new hairstyle, because I found myself wearing the same updo every day. I do love my long ombre-ed hair, but I've become quite out of inspiration with how to style it. Actually I am looking for a quick style that I can manage to do in max 15 mins before leaving for school.
I stumbled across this style and loved it instantly ! My hair is pretty straight, but the shorter parts, like what's left of my fringe, have a mind of their own and just point every direction. So messy waves seem ideal to me. This look has much of a 'I woke up like diz' vibe, but it looks put together at the same time.
My best ideas for this look are basically randomly curling sections of hair, big or small, front or back, just very random. Then I would use some sea salt spray to acquire the messy part and then setting it with hairspray.
I'm going to give this a try and report back to you !

Kelly

Beauty | Inspiration - Winged Eyeline

This is going to be a very quick post, since I'm typing this at school, because I'm a bit early to class, unfortunately it was the only moment I could find to write a post before Thursday.
For ages I have envied woman with the skills to beautifully apply winged eyeliner and I still haven't figured the trick out myself. There are three people in particular that I envy the most for their skills : Lauren Conrad, Zoe Sugg and Marzia Bisognin.
I really love a kind of thick line just above the lash line that wings out perfectly towards the brow end (as you can see in the pictures above) and my plan is to practice until it's perfect. I'm going to try different brands, different ways, different poses and I'll report back at you every time.
For my summer make up look I want to create a look with nice and fresh face make up, a soft lip color and for the eyes, just some winged eyeliner and mascara.

Mission started, soldier Geuens signing out !

Kelly

Fashion | Femmes Fatales

On Monday I was feeling so poorly, I think I had a small case of the stomach flu, and when I feel poor there's only one thing I want to do : Watching Breakfast At Tiffany's, my favourite movie of all time. And whilst I was enjoying some quality time in bed, I got the idea to start a new section on here introducing the Femmes Fatales that inspire me in terms of fashion and beauty.

This first post is just to introduce you guys to the idea behind it and how I will tackle each femme.
So basically every post will be written around one particular inspirational woman. First of all I'll introduce her to you guys, give some information. Second, I'll talk about her style and influence in terms of fashion. And third, I'll tackle her signature make up look :)

I'll leave it at this ! I hope you guys are as excited as me about this new section, because oh boy I am ^^
But now, I really have to go to bed, seriously I need to get up at 7 a.m. !

Kelly

Beauty | Winter Skincare - Morning Routine

With winter just around the corner, it's time to give your skin a little bit more love. So today, I am sharing my morning skincare routine with y'all. Before I start I just want to mention that I have combination to oily skin that is extremely sensitive and acne prone (Just so you know if this routine would work for you too)

I always start my mornings with a nice and refreshing shower and always take this La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel with me. In fact almost all of my skincare products are from the Effaclar range by La Roche-Posay, because I like it so much ! It is a little bit on the pricey side, but it is definitely worth the splurge if you want clear and healthy skin.

When I hop out of the shower it's time for another round of cleaning. To remove all of the oil, remnants of make up, ... I use the Miccelaire Sollution by La Roche-Posay on a large exfoliating cotton pad (as seen below).

I always use exfoliating cotton pads because I feel like they get rid of everything much better than normal cotton pads and leave your skin super clean.

Then I follow up with a bit of La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micro-exfoliating Lotion once again on an exfoliating cotton pad. This will make sure your skin is squeaky clean before hitting the moisturiser.

Next step is treating my eyes to a bit of moisture. I am currently using the Olaz Total Effects 7, but I can't really tell if I like it or not. Lack of sleep made my eyes really stingy, so I needed something to calm them down. I did catch up on sleep ánd bought this cream, so I don't quite know which one did the better job...

And the last step is moisturiser, I am currently using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Sebo-regulating moisturiser. This one helps me keeping my face shine free and minimises my pores at least a little bit.

I am really loving this routine and notice a huge difference with my last routine. My face calmed down, looks healthy and feels super soft.

If you want me to do a detailed review on one of these products, comment down below, and don't be afraid to ask any questions, I'd be happy to help !

Kelly

Beauty | Inspiration - Tattoos

As announced, today's beauty topic isn't something a lot of people would associate with me, it are in fact tattoos !
I didn't use to be a big fan of tattoos, thinking they are way too permanent and can never be taken away (They can but the scars will be there ...) But over the last few months that opinion has changed. I have taken a liking for dainty little well placed tattoos and maybe one day I'll even get one. (But a lot of thinking has to be done before doing something this drastic !)

I actually have this board on Pinterest where I gather all of my tattoo inspiration. It is called 'IfIeverhavethecourage' and can be found over here ;)
Like I said, I really like little dainty tattoos. I would never get a gigantic one, just a teeny tiny detail. For me it is also very important that this tattoo is well placed, I personally really like them placed on the wrist or maybe even the ribs. Another thing that is very important for me is that the tattoo has a special meaning, a story, a memory, something what makes it special, ...
I still have a lot of thinking to do !

Do you guys have any tattoos? Where? I would love to hear about them !

Love,
Kelly

Beauty | My current basic make up routine

Hi there !

Every time I do my make up I use the same base products and I thought it would be nice to share those products with you :)

1. Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Beige
2. Garnier Caffeine Anti-dark circles roll on in Light
3. Maybelline Dreamlumitouch Concealer in Ivory
4. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original
5. Bourjois Délice de Soleil bronzer in Olive/tanned skin
6. Mac blush in Blushbaby
7. Mac Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle
8. Rimmel Stay Matte setting powder in Silky Beige
9. Catrice Brow Pencil in A Date With Ashton
10. Maybelline The Rocket Mascara in Black
11. Rosebud Lip Balm in Minted Rose

This is also the actual order in which I apply them.
So first of all I cover my entire face with the foundation and don't forget to cover your neck too ! This is my absolute favourite foundation, it has such a good amount of coverage that I don't need a lot of concealer to follow up and it leaves a nice dewy finish because of the slight shimmer in it.
Afterwards I roll a bit of the Garnier Roll on under my eyes to conceal my dark under eye circles (Oh yes, my insomnia kicked back in, woohoow !)
Then it's time to conceal active blemishes and acne scaring. I have tried a lot of different concealers this summer, only to come back to this one, my absolute favourite for years.
Time to prime those eyes ! Last winter I went to Paris and splurged on this amazing primer potion by Urban Decay. These aren't available in Belgium, so whenever I travel I try to get my hands on one of them because it is the only primer that does the job for my extremely oily eyelids.
Contouring time ! For contour I have been loving this Bourjois bronzer, it blends like a dream and smells so good. I apply this underneath my cheekbones, on my forehead, neck and nose for a more defined face. Mac's Blushbaby was a splurge from last year's trip to Berlin, I hit pan on it and will definitely repurchase it. It is the perfect natural colour for my skin tone. This one goes right onto the apples of my cheeks.
Mac's MSF in Soft and Gentle is thé most gorgeous highlighter, it gives such a nice healthy glow to my face. I apply this on my cheekbones, nose and above my eyebrows.
Afterwards I blend everything together with my favourite setting powder by Rimmel. This one keeps me shine free all day.
Then it's time for brows, because my brows are a bit sparse in some areas. I really like this eyebrow pencil by Catrice and it seems to be the right shade for me, win !
(Typically I will do my eye make up in between these two steps)
I never leave the house without mascara and I have been loving the Rocket mascara by Maybelline this summer.
Don't forget to treat your lips to some moisturiser, my favourite is this Rosebud one in Minted Rose ;) (Afterwards it is time for some lip colour !)

If you would like me to do a full review on one of these products, let me know in the comments below ! If you have any questions concerning the products, don't hesitate to ask, I'd be glad to help you out ;)

Love,
Kelly
